Mentha aquatica
This is a true "aquatic" mint, requiring a wet environment to thrive, though it has all the fragrant, aromatic qualities of other garden mints. The foliage has been used in teas and jellies. Other features include pretty, round clusters of pale blue to lavender flowers appearing from summer to fall. The flowers are fragrant butterfly attractors as well. The foliage becomes purplish with cooler weather, and this plant tolerates freezing weather well, normally requiring no special care. Native to Europe.
